Bill Black - Resort Minister

Bill Black has spent a lifetime serving people in mountain communities. After retiring in 2021 from 40 years as the Director of Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, he continues to follow God's call wherever opportunities to encourage and care for others arise.

Bill's connection to Tahoe goes back much further than many people realize. He first served with First Baptist Church of Tahoe City in 1979, and it has remained a place close to his heart ever since.

Those who know Bill appreciate his gentle spirit, genuine kindness, and deep love for God. He has a gift for making people feel welcome, accepted, and cared for, reflecting Christ's love through simple acts of generosity and hospitality.

Throughout his ministry, Bill has been passionate about helping people experience God's presence. Under his leadership, Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries became known for thoughtful, compassionate programs that encouraged both visitors and seasonal employees in their faith journeys.

When he's not serving others, Bill enjoys spending time in the mountains, whether hiking a quiet trail, skiing fresh snow, or simply taking in the beauty of God's creation. He lives just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and also enjoys caring for a small tree farm in his home state of Georgia.
