Scott has been serving as pastor of First Baptist Church of Tahoe City since 2012, but his ministry journey has taken him from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee to the peaks of Alaska before finally finding a home in the Sierra Nevada. Along the way, he has served as a resort minister in Girdwood, Alaska, and spent seven years as chaplain at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. No matter where life has taken him, Scott has always been drawn to people who feel overlooked, are carrying heavy burdens, or are simply searching for hope. His greatest joy is helping people discover the grace, love, and hope found in Jesus.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Memphis and a Master of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He also spent more than ten years teaching skiing, discovering that some of life's best conversations happen on a chairlift, around a campfire, or while exploring God's creation together.
When he's not at church, you'll likely find Scott skiing fresh powder, hiking mountain trails, kayaking on Lake Tahoe, or sharing coffee with a friend. He loves good conversations, beautiful places, and helping people take their next step in faith.
Whether you're a lifelong Christian, full of questions, or just curious about church, Scott would love to meet you. He is also available to officiate weddings. His heart is simple: to help people experience the life-changing love of Jesus and discover what following Him is really all about.
